Secondary Teaching and Observation
Thompson Valley High School - Thompson Valley Strong
Among these halls were students of diverse backgrounds, and teachers who try to support them. This course has been a valuable learning experience in how to support and encourage high school students to be their best selves. The artroom was full of creativity, the AVID classroom reflected valuable ideas and debates. While the art class did not encourage choice, I got to experience how a classroom with a lack of choice operates and encourage students to grow in that environment. Students in these classrooms felt comfortable approaching me, some said more than they did their own teachers.
EDUC 450 taught us many methods of classroom management, from the building of the classroom to the responses to behavior. Love and Logic, alternative assessment, establishing classroom relationships, clarifying expectations, and much more was covered, preparing me to be the teacher I hope my students can look forward to learning under one day. |
